This is a example of a Curly figured Koa la'au newa/wood club. In particular, what was classified by Sir P.Buck as a "smooth-headed bludgen club". One of many styles of clubs utilized by the Hawaiian Kanaka koa. simple in design and execution, preferred, by a lot of Ali'i for it's simplicity in design and use. Not a lot of skillsets needed to wield this in battle and pretty effective at it's given task. A lot of times these smooth clubs could share duty with a women as a Ho'hoa/kapa beater.
