Hawaiian Ivory Makau III

This very beautiful & unique makau made of ivory. This legal pre-ban Elephant ivory was acquired from "Ming's Jewelry" in Chinatown at auction after it closed. This ivory is from stock that had been purchased before 1970. The distinct patina and schreger pattern is apparent on the hand polished surface of this classic double-barbed style hook. The Makau is 2.00"Long x 1.25"wide, it is lashed to a barktan synthetic 3-ply Kaula/necklace.
