Hawaiian Ivory Makau II

This very unique makau/hook made of ivory, is made from legal pre-ban Elephant ivory that was acquired from "Ming's Jewelry" in Chinatown at estate auction after it closed. This ivory is all from stock that had been purchased prior to 1970's. The distinct patina and Schreger pattern is apparent on the hand polished surface of this barbless jab-style hook. The Makau is 1-7/8"Long x 1-3/8"wide, it is lashed to a barktan synthetic 3-ply Kaula/necklace. Order custom size in "Necklace size".
