Possibly the world's rarest bird, the Poouli was discovered in 1973 in a remote area on the northeastern slope of Haleakala Volcano on the island of Maui. Patrick Ching spent several weeks studying the Poouli in the wild. This scene is of a male Poouli feeding the female at their in a ohia tree.
