The Red Road gets its name from the many years it spent clothed in red cinder from the Kapoho eruption of '65. Recently repaved in more mundane grey, it is still a beautiful drive past ocean vistas and through magnificent tree tunnels on its way from Kalapana to Kapoho and beyond.
