Mauna Kea mountain is on the right side in the distant hovering over the city of Hilo. This beach is only a few miles away. The lava goes down to the water's edge, but sand has been pushed up almost up to the tree line. In the foreground you can see the shadows of the trees and branches. A great place to paint and spend the day.
