Kailua Beach has many moods. The winter season in Hawaii brings an unusual southeast wind direction known as Kona Winds which result in low pressure areas that bring lots of rain to the Islands. When this condition occurs, the water surface becomes smooth and the dark sky looks ominous beyond the sun's brilliance shining through a gap in the clouds.
