Since I most often paint in sunlight, it is a challenge to capture that subtle moment after the sun moves behind trees, but still shines on the distant rocks and trees. This is the view at mile 17, where the road once dipped perilously close to the waves along coastal road 137, from Kapoho to Kalapana on the Big Island.
