I'm often striving to capture the intense warm light on trees and rocks along the Puna Coast. These palms are at mile 17, which has for years been one of my favorite painting spots. The coconut tree has long been one of my holy grails of painting, as its familiar appearance contains an endlessly challenging symmetry and structure.
