Description

This pendant is made from curly and figured Koa wood, an endemic wood or a wood that is unique to Hawaii. This whale tail is in the fluke shape of the Palaoa/sperm whale, from which Na Niho/teeth were treasured and worn by Na Ali'i/royalty for symbol of their rank, status and power. The whales weren't hunted like say are alaskan bretheren, but either way a dead whale on the shore would not be let go to waste. The koa whaletail is 1-7/8" long x 3/4" tall. The Kaula/neckcord is 19"long.
