The Kahelelani shell jewelry is one of the last genuine Hawaiian art forms available today. In our history only Ali'i could wear these beautiful shells.  The knowledge and skills required to make these leis is very rare. It is one of the only shells reconized to a gemologist as a gem. The true name of this precious gem of the ocean is the Kahelelani shell named after an ancient chief of Ni'ihau. Translated into english Kahelelani means "pathway to heaven."

In 1997 Ryan moved to the beautiful island of Kauai. Having already mastered the art of wire wrapped jewelry, he discovered the Kahelelani shell while on the beaches of Kauai. After learning the importance of this “treasure” to the Hawaiian people and their culture he decided to continue the tradition of creating pieces that would be fit to be worn by royalty. Ryan has created his own unique stringing style that many have sought out to learn.  His jewelry clasps are made of pukas from Kaua'i

Kahelena was raised on Kauai and comes from a long line of native Hawaiian lei and jewelry makers. She has been able to create jewelry that combines Ryan’s unique style of design as well as traditional designs that has been passed down through her Hawaiian ancestry.

Together they create quality pieces with shells found only on the island of Kauai. Please browse through their selections and know that each and every piece was made with Aloha from Kauai.

Feel free to contact us with any suggestions or requests for custom made designs.  All photos were taken by Roxanne McCann.
