Danny Braddix Jr. spent much of the early part his life traveling from place to place, receiving much of his education in France, Germany and Boston.
Graduating from college with a degree in accounting, he spent two years working in a high-rise office building, before packing up his van and heading west to find something he actually wanted to do for the rest of his life.
When he hit the Big Sur coast in California, he stopped, and the splendid natural beauty inspired him to begin painting. He is a completely self-taught artist, working in the medium of acrylics, with a style all his own. He has supported his art with a variety of jobs, including being a lieutenant in the Carmel Highlands Fire Department and a singing bartender. Now, his art has returned the favor and is supporting him.
Coming to Maui in 1987 on a dare and a promise, he is sometimes surprised to find himself still here, fifteen years later. Living on the east side of Maui, with its lush, dreamlike tropical beauty, he is often found painting on location, tucked away next to a waterfall with his easel and brushes, and wearing his famous purple apron.
On Maui, his artwork has literally burst into flower, capturing the local beauty from his own unique point of view.
