For Maui artists Carol and Michael Schwarz, life is a magical adventure. This becomes obvious whether one gazes upon the harmonious, environmentally inspired pieces created by Carol, or the meticulously crafted masterpieces by Michael. It was kismet that brought the two together over twenty years ago, Michael having just arrived on Maui from Austria in search of the place where his natural abilities as a self-taught jeweler could evolve to their full potential.

Carol's background was in arts and design. In Michael she found a best friend and a mentor. Together the two have created their utopia on Maui's north shore. A jungle haven where the humbleness of their off-the-grid lifestyle contrasts against the extravagance of the world class jewelry produced there. Often times, Carol's work plays upon this dichotomy as she delights in combining the different elements of nature in her artful creations; such as earrings of diamonds, 18k gold, and beach pebbles, or a pendant of seashell, boulder opal, and emerald. For Carol, the peaceful jungle surrounding them is an obvious influence upon her creativity. She particularly enjoys working with the wondreful shells which Hawaii's beaches offer up to her, and playful combinations of colored gemstones. Her bamboo inspired jewelry collection has evolved over the last 15 years to the point where collectors consider it a must to aquire a new piece on each visit to the islands.

The persistant, self-challenging Michael thrives upon mastering technological perfection and mechanical genous in his work. With a background in engineering and biology, his jewelry skills are completely self-taught. Over 25 years of experience have brought him to the point of being one of the most advanced creftspersons for platinum work in all of Hawaii. The masterpieces he creates in his open air studio are sold through prestigious galleries and auction houses such as Southeby's in New York. Michael is an expert stone setter and enjoys designing pieces which are inspired by the architectural richness of his childhood in Vienna.

Perhaps the most enjoyable creative process for both artists is derived from working directly with a client on a custom order. Michael particularly enjoys creating wedding bands for couples ( as he is a true romantic! ). He believes that the wedding ring, as a symbol of love and commitment, should be strong enough to last a lifetime, unique ( as is each relationship ), and crafted with the wearer in mind by an artisan who adds the magical touch of sensitivity into every piece he creates.
